I.A.N.T.E. Scholarship

Guidelines

I.A.N.T.E. (Interlake Association of Non-Teaching Employees) is offering a $500.00 scholarship to a deserving student in each of the three high schools within the Interlake School Division.

This scholarship is available to graduating students entering a field of study leading to a career choice involving work with children such as child care, para-professional training, teaching, nursing or speech therapy. However, we will also consider students who are continuing their education in other fields, as long as they have prior experience working with children.

Students applying for the scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  1. Marks must indicate the ability to complete the academic    requirements of the course but do not have to be the highest standings in the core subjects.

  2. Must have shown community involvement in child related fields such as: peer assistant/tutor, teaching lessons such as swimming, dance or sports, babysitting, Special Olympics, church groups, working or volunteering in a day care, etc.

  3. Enclose two letters of reference, one of which must support the community involvement outlined above.

  4. An essay, of at least 500 words, stating why the field of study was chosen and personal attributes that make him/her suitable for the field.

The application for the scholarship and all accompanying documentation must be returned to Maureen Skyhar, C/O Ècole Stonewall Centennial School, by May 3, 2024.

The scholarship funds will be disbursed upon proof of acceptance and proof of paid registration to the school of the student’s choice.  If for some reason the student is not accepted in their graduating year, the funds will be held by I.A.N.T.E. and will be available for one year.
